The Bannu Mission School (Pennell High School Bannu), founded in 1865, is the second oldest educational institution in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (previously NWFP) province of Pakistan. Under the British Medical Missionary Dr. Theodore Leighton Pennell who was principal from 1893 until his untimely death 20 years later, the school grew and rose to national recognition and was renamed Pennell High School in his memory. On 12 July 2006, the high school was promoted to a ‘Higher Secondary School and College’.
