Government High School No. 3, Abbottabad has a unique status in the galaxy of educational institutions of this unrivaled city of schools and colleges. It was first established as a Primary School in 1872. Later on, It was named Anglo Sansikrit School in 1892. The School was upgraded and renamed as Araya Middle School in 1905. After the partition, it was owned by North West Frontier Province (NWFP) Government and declared as Government Middle School From 1947 to 1954, its site was utilized by Government College Abbottabad. In 1980, it got the status of Government High School. Under the policy directives of Education department NWFP in 2000, it was remolded as an English Medium Educational Institution. In this way, Government High School No.3 Abbottabad has become the first English Medium institution in public sector. it is affiliated with the Board of intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Abbottabad.
